Managed and art-directed a group of designers and type-setters involved in the production of a huge range of printed, and other specialized materials required by the development of several large literacy, ELT, and mathematics programmes for export markets. Used every available technology in print production and the manufacture of specialized teaching aids, and produced materials for new forms of electronic work-flow.

Continued as art director and senior designer of materials for the large-scale literacy and mathematics projects undertaken by the publisher.

2004-10

Worked in both the trade and education publishing areas.

Designed five Macmillan Library series’ formats - Extreme Jobs, Our Body, Life in Australian Indigenous Communities, Indonesia, and China.

Illustrated the trade picture book, HOP! Little Hare for Little Hare Books.

Managed remotely the production of 72 covers for a major new ESL series, Welcome to English published by Longman, Hong Kong for the Chinese market. This project involved art direction and design of the series formats, the selection and briefing a group of Australian illustrators, assembly and supply.

Art directed the pilot development of a new literacy program for National Geographic Literacy in conjunction for Ibis Publishing Australia. Designed and illustrated numerous titles for the same program at Ibis, and later, for Rigby who were contracted to supply some components of the program.

Art-directed and designed several large, multi-component ELT series’ for McGraw-Hill/MacDonald Publishing, including My World, We Can! and Blue Planet. Briefed and managed an international team of designers, illustrators, and photographers in Argentina and Mexico to implement these series’ designs over four years.
